Public Comment: DAOM Incorporation into the Comprehensive Standards and Criteria [Nov. 4, 2018]
ACAOM began the process of creating Comprehensive Standards and Criteria to include all ACAOM-accreditable programs and institutions by combining the standards and criteria for Master’s Level programs and Institutions with the standards and Criteria for Professional Doctorate [PD] programs in April, 2018. The Chinese Herbology Certificate standards were added in August, 2018. The last program to be added to the Comprehensive Standards and Criteria is the Postgraduate Doctorate [DAOM].
Many elements of the existing DAOM standards and criteria were identical or highly similar to those already incorporated into the Comprehensive Standards and Criteria as applying to “all programs”. The Commission identified six criteria that required specific additions related to the DAOM, and an additional criterion to be added to the Comprehensive Standards; the Commission seeks comment regarding all seven of these criteria:
Criterion 1.03 – Program Goals
Criterion 5.03 – Transfer Credit/Transfer Students
Criterion 7.02 – Minimum Program Length, Credits and Hours
Criterion 7.04 – Professional Competencies
Criterion 7.05 – Clinical Training
Criterion 7.08 – Clinical Research Projects [PROPOSED FOR ADDITION]
