Commission announces end date for flexibilities related to the COVID-19 public health emergency

On 30 January 2023 the Executive Office of the President, Office of Management and Budget (White House guidance) issued a Statement of Administration Policy which reads in pertinent part, “At present, the Administration’s plan is to extend the emergency declarations (COVID-19 and Public Health Emergency) to May 11, and then end both emergencies on that date.” Based on this guidance, and unless the President or the U.S. Department of Education provides additional guidance, the Commission recognizes 11 May 2023 as the “declared end of the state of emergency.”

ACAHM reaffirms that it will adhere to its Distance Education Policy. Based on the White House guidance referenced above, ACAHM-accredited programs and institutions must receive 1.15 initial substantive change accreditation no later than 11 November 2023 if they wish to continue offering courses or any portion of an ACAHM-accredited program via distance education beyond that date.

ACAHM is committed to an accreditation process that adds value to institutions/programs while contributing to public accountability. We appreciate the continued cooperation and support of all the Commission’s constituents and stakeholders in this process.
