ACAHM Announces New Commissioner, Officers [27 March 2023]

EXCELSIOR, MN, March 27, 2023 – – The Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (ACAHM) is pleased to announce the election of Steven Schram, PhD, DC, LAc to the Commission, and the election of new officers of the Commission.

Dr. Schram, a New Jersey native, earned a BA in Chemistry from Gettysburg College in 1973 and a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Maryland in 1978.  Following a postdoctoral appointment at the University of Georgia, Dr. Schram joined the research department at Life Chiropractic College in Marietta, GA, where he also earned a second doctorate in Chiropractic in 1983.  While practicing Chiropractic in New York City, Dr. Schram enrolled in the Acupuncture program at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. Following his graduation from Pacific in 1996, Dr. Schram practiced both acupuncture and chiropractic.  In support of the acupuncture profession, Dr. Schram has served as president of the Acupuncture Society of New York (ASNY), and as a member of the New York State Board for Acupuncture, where he served as chairperson until reaching term limitation in 2020.  Dr. Schram also served ACAHM as a site visitor, prior to being elected to the Commission. 

The Commission also held an election for officers at its Winter 2023 meeting. As a result of the election, the Commission's officers are:
