ACAHM Announces New Commissioners [25 March 2024]

Excelsior, MN, March 25, 2024 --

The Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (ACAHM) is pleased to announce the election of two new Commissioners:

  • Taryn De Sio Garber, MS, TTS as a public member

  • Juli Olson, DC, DACM, FAIHM as a practitioner member

Ms. De Sio Garber holds an undergraduate degree in business managerial economics from SUNY ESC, a graduate degree in business management and leadership from CUNY SPS, and she is completing a second graduate degree in education with a focus on health and wellness from the American College of Education. She is trained as an advanced practitioner in Mind Body Medicine from the Center of Mind Body Medicine, and as a Tobacco Treatment Specialist from Rutgers Center for Tobacco Studies. Her career has focused on integrative health, health promotion, and employee well-being. She is currently the Associate Director of Whole Health in The States and Special Projects at the Academic Consortium for Integrative Medicine and Health. Her primary role is leading backbone efforts to increase access and utilization of whole health comprehensive pain care and supports special projects for the organization. Prior to joining the Academic Consortium, she spent over a decade leading integrative health, health promotion, and wellness programs for diverse communities at NYU Langone Health. She has a history of volunteering to support nursing wellbeing and advancing integrative health through policy efforts.

Dr. Olson holds doctoral degrees in Chiropractic from the Southern California University of Health Sciences, and Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from Pacific College of Health and Science. She is fellowship-trained in Integrative Medicine by the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine. She provides direct patient care in the Pain Clinic at the VA Central Iowa, serves as a Clinical Champion for the Integrative Health Coordinating center, and is the National Lead for Acupuncture in the Veterans Health Administration. Dr. Olson teaches at the Pacific College of Health Sciences and is Adjunct Faculty at Palmer College of Chiropractic, for whom she is a Residency Attending in the VA Chiropractic Residency Program. Dr. Olson has served on Acupuncture and Biomedicine committees for the NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine) since 2016.
