Position Paper and Policy Update: Crisis Communication

The Commission has issued a new Position Paper regarding crisis communication: how and why to notify the Commission of a crisis.

The ACAHM glossary defines a crisis as:

...an incident (including a developing/emerging threat) or critical incident (an imminent threat) that:

  • Could negatively affect, or has negatively affected, the health, safety or welfare of students, faculty, staff and/or campus guests/visitors.

  • Severely impedes or limits core functions of the school

  • Risks disrupting normal school operations

  • Could, or has, negatively affected public confidence in the school

The Commission's Notification of Change Policy has also been updated to reflect crisis communication, in section 3.06.
