Update on Call for Public Comment: Program Naming Policy

At its 10-12 February 2025 meeting, the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Herbal (ACAHM) considered all input to date, including public comments solicited from relevant stakeholders and constituencies, regarding a proposed change to ACAHM’s Program Naming Policy for the advanced practice doctoral program, currently named Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM).

Public comments received did not indicate support for the proposed name Doctor of Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine for the advanced practice doctoral program.

Therefore:

The Commission did not adopt the proposed name and will retain Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine for the advanced practice doctoral program name.

ACAHM welcomes data-supported, consensus-driven suggestions for change. The Commission remains open to considering a program name change if a suggestion is received from an ACAHM community of interest.
